A Walk In The Park

Twilight Zone

When you feel like taking a walk, trek, run, dog walking, cycling, or just a stroll in the park, Beckenham Place Park has it all. As a resident who lives close to the park, I always enjoy the open green space the park offers. A swift walk for health takes me there twice weekly where I go to clear my head, breathe fresh air, and leave my worries and problems behind for the time being. A great place to improve fitness, do a regular green walk, especially if you cannot afford a gym membership, or a break from the indoor gym exercise feels like some outdoor fresh air- it is just as versatile as it can be.

Located between London Borough of Lewisham and London Borough of Bromley, approximately 15 mins swift walk from where I live takes me through the park woodland pathways to the open space. Depending on where you are coming from, paths and tracks through the woodlands and overgrown bush lead to enormous rolling hills and lakes where you can relax and take in the full view.

Don’t let a few run-ins with the dogs on the loose scare you. Indeed, it is a haven for dog-walkers of various breeds. Watch out for the joggers, cyclists, and runners sprinting past. It is very busy by the lake, popular with swimmers who make bookings ensuring they don’t get disappointed due to its popularity. Picnics on the ground have been common sights- food and drinks surrounded by family and friends. With the high costs of living who wants to book an expensive place for celebration when your local park like Beckenham Place Park can offer you free space.

Take a break at the Homestead Café where freshly brewed coffee, and tasty tea time favorites are served. You can’t miss the huge Beckenham Place turned-community-center once a beautiful Georgian mansion is accessible to the public’s arts and cultural center. It is where regular events and activities - pop-up markets, cinemas, craft classes, and fitness and wellbeing take place. Look around you, visit your local park, and enjoy it.
